The fog lifts just in time for the sunrise. Atop the hill overlooking the Columbia River Gorge, a couple stands ready to wed. As the sun rises, they turn and recite their vows (personally prepared) to each other.
A small gathering has formed a circle in a park. Each member has selected a bead from a basket, which will be placed on a string with the others and anchored by a crystal. A small boy is passed from person to person around the circle as each participant whispers his or her commitment of love and support. Even now, years later, the beaded crystal light catcher still hangs in the young boy’s room commemorating his baptism in love.
A woman has freed herself from the cancer that had dictated her life for the past year. A small group of friends circles her in a forest with wishes for the future and symbols of her metamorphosis. Within the forested nook filled with ferns and wild flowers, she changes outfits to symbolize the change of her life, beginning anew.
Significant life transitions call for a ritual to cement the intention of the passage. Ritual celebrates the lives of those we love. Ritual gives us the opportunity to honor significant milestones. When ritual is developed to be personal and unique, it can be incredibly powerful.
Most of us have been to rituals such as weddings or celebrations of life that stir feelings of celebration, joy, grief, or excitement. Rituals are there to help us find those places within that give us the impetus to move into new levels of life in some way.
I enjoy doing rituals that launch a joyful event. Nothing brings more hope than a ritual that announces the glory of a new partnership, a change of life circumstances, or the welcoming of a child into the world.
I am available to launch your joyful life change, in whatever form, in whatever location that is part of God’s beautiful earth. |
